There is a powerful chapter in the bestselling book Good to Great that describes an amazing phenomenon called the flywheel effect. In the context of the book, the flywheel effect is the relentless and steady achievement of small things that lead to long term achievement of great things.
When you were a kid you might have played with a real flywheel called a gyroscope. It’s a heavy wheel connected to an axis (axel) and spun like toy top. Once spinning the gyroscope kept spinning until friction ultimately reduced its RPMs to a point where it lost momentum, began to wobble and ultimately fell over at a dead stop.
Finally. It’s getting brisk! Not just fall in the air (or the closest it comes in the Sonoran Desert), but a sense that Tucson has truly turned the corner. It’s a time when economic momentum is palpable, and good news comes in long jump strides—not in the inches of years past. We can stop pinching ourselves for a moment and celebrate this, relish it, then build on it. We deserve to bask in some abundant sunshine.Read More

Tom Knox retires from Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR, after twenty years of service, on September 30, 2015. An integral member of the office division and a principal/ shareholder, Tom's quality of thought and contributions made an indelible mark on our culture. Much of C&W | PICOR's success can be directly attributed to Tom's leadership, and his contributions will always be valued and remembered. His tireless work, commitment, and dedication are worthy of admiration.
On December 25, 2014, Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR lost the most colorful block from our metaphorical quilt. Peter Douglas was a founding Principal whose cowboy nature guided a career of client and community impact. He was a founder of Greater Tucson Leadership and was inducted into the YMCA Hall of Fame in which he served on the Board for several years, and as Chairman. He was a dynamic force and presence in our firm and the loss is great.
With many blessings to count, this year and always, we continue a tradition started last Thanksgiving, asking our Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR team members to join us in a moment of gratitude and reflection. In this short slide show, we share with you personal perspectives and photographs from heartfelt to humorous.
On October 12, 2014 Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR will mix, pour, flip and serve as many pancakes as you can eat. The proceeds of this annual fund raising event go directly back into our community. Our goal is to distribute funds collected from generous clients, colleagues, vendors and community friends to those Tucson-area charities benefiting disadvantaged youth where a modest grant will make a significant difference. Often, these are programs and organizations which may receive less public support than their counterparts.
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, national defense is an integral and critical component of Tucson's economy. Recent research and a campaign to support and preserve our military presence has emerged as "Mission Strong." Here are some excerpts from the Mission Strong website:
