A Splash of Color at Oracle Wetmore Shopping Center: C&W | PICOR Welcomes Color Me Mine

Exterior Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR visited Color Me Mine’s new location during their grand opening week at the Oracle Wetmore Shopping Center. This marks the second Color Me Mine location in Tucson. The studio is independently owned and operated by Stephen Dix, who has been personally greeting visitors, walking them through the process, sharing tips and tricks, and ensuring everyone feels welcome and successful in their creations.

Located at 4386 N Oracle Rd, Suite 156, this 1,750 square foot studio sits directly across from the Tucson Mall, in one of Tucson’s most active retail corridors. The shopping center is managed by Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR’s property manager, Erin Thompson. Additionally, C&W | PICOR’s Aaron LaPrise, Principal and Retail Specialist, is the listing agent for Oracle Wetmore Shopping Center and represented the landlord in the lease with Color Me Mine.

One suite remains available at Oracle Wetmore Shopping Center, directly next door to Color Me Mine. The 1,400-square-foot space offers excellent visibility and foot traffic in one of Tucson’s prime retail areas. Surrounding tenants include Cost Plus World Market, PetSmart, Ulta, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, and Total Wine & More. The new Barnes & Noble opening this fall adds to the area’s strong mix of retailers and restaurants.

Dix oversaw a full remodel of the space, adding new flooring, bathrooms, and a kiln room. Early posts on their social media pages followed the progress from framing and plumbing to drywall and finishing, capturing how the suite evolved into a perfect studio.

One wall is lined with shelves of ready-to-paint ceramics, including figurines, plates, bowls, mugs, and more unique pieces like olive oil dispensers. Kids will love painting dragons, unicorns, and puppies, while adults can create personalized keepsakes or gifts. The options are endless, whether it’s a baby’s handprint plate, a Father’s Day mug for dad, couples painting matching mugs together, or a one-of-a-kind holiday piece.

As Color Me Mine says, “This will be a place to relax, connect, celebrate, and get creative together. Whether you are coming with family, friends, or looking for a creative refuge, there will be a seat at the table and a piece of pottery waiting for you.”

The studio also offers parties for all occasions, including birthdays, corporate events, and group gatherings, making it a great option for both kids and adults to celebrate while creating something personal and lasting.

Step 1: Choose Your Piece
The first step is picking from hundreds of pottery options. Our team chose to paint a mug. From plates and bowls to figurines and decorative items, there’s something for every style and occasion.

Step 2: Plan Your Design
For those looking for inspiration, Dix recommends visiting the Projects page or Techniques page on their website. Both offer plenty of creative ideas and methods like bubble painting, carving, and design transfers. We decided to keep it simple and paint everything by hand.

Step 3: Select Your Colors
A full wall of color tiles helps guests envision how each shade will look after firing. There are examples showing how many coats to use, how to layer colors effectively, and what the final results will be once fired.

Step 4: Paint Your Pottery
Take your time and enjoy the process. We easily spent three hours here, and it was the perfect place to slow down, get creative, and enjoy using our artistic side. Dix and his team are always available to offer tips and refresh paint water so brushes stay clean. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it a great spot for a kids’ birthday party, a date night, or simply a solo afternoon to get creative.

Step 5: Leave It to Be Fired
Once we finished painting, our pieces were left to be fired in the kiln. Most items are ready for pickup in about seven days, and all finished pottery is lead-free and food safe.

Step 6: Pick Up and Enjoy
A few days later, we received a text letting us know our pieces were ready for pickup. Dix remembered us and was excited to show how beautifully our mug turned out. When we stopped in, the tables were full of other guests working on their own projects.
