Since 1993, PICOR Charitable Foundation (PCF) has hosted an annual Pancake Breakfast to support youth programs in Southern Arizona, raising ~$1.5 million over the years. A key contributor to this success has been The Burton Family Foundation, which has played a pivotal role in our event’s success since 2016.
Established in 2015, The Burton Family Foundation aims to cultivate an Arizona where every person can achieve their utmost potential. The foundation realizes this vision by providing grants to organizations dedicated to crucial work in youth, education, and human services.
“The most rewarding aspect of the philanthropic work we do is getting to know the many unique communities across Arizona and learning about each of their distinct strengths and varying needs,” Christy Burton said. “It’s understanding that philanthropy can have a significant impact in both urban and rural communities.”
Since its inception, The Burton Family Foundation has awarded more than 1,300 grants and scholarships, totaling $37 million to various causes, including youth programs, similar to PCF’’s Pancake Breakfast.
The Burton Family Foundation’s support of PCF’s fundraiser began in 2016 with the implementation of a matching donation program that doubles the amount raised. As of the end of last year, they have contributed $286,918, significantly impacting numerous youth services in our community.
Some of the non-profits that have benefited from these donations include:
- Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation: Funding for their prom night for children and families battling cancer and other blood disorders.
- Assistance League of Tucson, Inc: Providing school libraries with books, clothing and hygiene products for children in need, and support kits for people leaving shelters or abusive homes.
- Angel Heart Pajama Foundation: Supplying pajamas and books to children in need.
These organizations represent just a small sample of the local non-profits that PCF has supported with the help of The Burton Family Foundation.
“PICOR’s Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser is a great way to leverage resources, knowledge, and needs with a group that really knows their community,” said Christy Burton. The foundation commends PCF’s streamlined application process for nonprofits seeking grants and their thorough screening of applicants to identify the most underserved organizations.
“PICOR employees and volunteers involved all come with their own knowledge of the community which enables a robust dialogue about each organization and the needs of the community. They are really tuned into what the greatest needs of the area are and how the resources raised at the breakfast can meet those needs.”
PCF extends its heartfelt gratitude to The Burton Family Foundation for their continued support of our Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser and look forward to many years of assisting our community together.
This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, October 27th at Reid Park, Ramada One, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. If you would like to support our cause, please visit our foundation’s website at https://www.picor.com/our-foundation/
